Rocks are some of the planet's most vital carbon sinks. Limestone is an abundant and inexpensive rock that captures massive amounts of CO2 from the air over years in a process known as carbon mineralization. Heirloom’s technology accelerates this natural process to just days.
By integrating this mineralization approach into a Direct Air Capture facility – a highly-scalable carbon removal technology which verifiably removes CO2 from the atmosphere – we get the best of both worlds: an inexpensive, high-quality, scalable carbon removal solution.
Our Facility
America’s leading Direct Air Capture company
America is leading the world in deploying DAC and Heirloom is leading America in that effort by rapidly scaling our technology around the country. We’re building two Direct Air Capture (DAC) facilities in Northwestern Louisiana with a combined yearly CO2 capture capacity of nearly 320,000 tons. This landmark investment in the state is powering the Gulf Coast's leadership in a new energy economy and further cementing America as a leader in deploying DAC technologies.
This builds on Heirloom’s leadership role in establishing America’s first commercial DAC facility in the Central Valley of California. This facility is actively removing CO2 from the atmosphere, fulfilling customer carbon removal purchases.
All of our facilities are operated in accordance with our high road principles for responsible carbon removal – powered by 100% additional renewable energy, constructed with strong labor protections, and pioneering a model of community governance for a new energy economy.
